And he’s POTTY TRAINED!

Just like that!  After having gone potty in the DOLLAR STORE (under his own protest to do so!!) with Momo and Tata last weekend, he seems to have gotten it!  And gotten it WELL!!!  This is ALL he wants to do now!  GO POTTY!! Home life has been much about this lately, but I’m so happy that he is no longer terrified and breaking out in cold sweats over it!  Don’t really know how it clicked all of a sudden, just happy that it did :)  He’s so proud of himself, as are we :)  Today we left the house for the first time with NO DIAPER on!  He stayed the dry the whole day!  It’s these small BIG achievements that make life what it is all about.  And now, the BIG BOY bed just arrived….further proof that my first born baby is growing up before my eyes.

and I just love this one of the 2 of them  xxx….

June 4, 2010 - 10:26 pm Momo - Tate, Momo is sooooooooooooooooo proud of you, and loves you from here to Momo's Mountain:) I just love how you capture these precious moments, Helene, and your journal/comments to accompany them! What a treasure to have as they grow older - and how fun to show Tate's potty-pic at his wedding :) And really, the two brothers in the grass - how precious! My grandsons :) XOXOXOX

July 7, 2010 - 9:31 pm Jessica - Oh YAY TATE! THis was posted a while ago, but I'm still so proud of him! I'm sorry that I"ve been absent. I think about your beautiful family-my lovely friends- all of the time. We are coming out in late August and I'm really hoping you'll be in town! Really hoping to see you all! I hope all is well, I'll shoot you an email and we can touch base! xx

LEGOLAND!

Our first stop just for Tate!  We loved Legoland!!  So many fun rides and sculptures made out of Lego!  We had a blast.

Kai was such a patient little brother as Tate explored Mini land.

Birthday in La Jolla….

This was one of the best birthday ever…just relaxing with my boys in beautiful downtown La Jolla.  I felt as if we could have been anywhere in the Med, especially Southern France.  We did a little bit of window shopping, and lots of walking around.

A trip to Midway….

We embarked on this massive aircraft carrier stationed in San Diego. What an experience.  I had no idea what to expect, and it was impressive.  I think Tate really enjoyed the experience as well.  He got to crawl over real helicopters and planes…and transport vehicles  :)  A little boys dream.

May 19, 2010 - 7:48 am Momo - Wow, what fun!!And Tate peeking up the girl's skirt!!!! That picture is a price-winner! :)

Beautiful Del Mar…

This place really reminded me of Majorca!  So beautiful.  We stayed at an amazing hotel and even extended our stay there.  We had a great room with a wrap around balcony that we could sit and watch the sunset on each night.  Tate loved it especially because there was the railroad tracks right there!  We heard and saw trains every 10 minutes!!  We are already hoping to visit there again soon.

Fun on the tracks!

Kai’s Wall!!

May 17, 2010 - 9:55 pm Momo - This looks like Paradise!! So beautiful! And such beautiful people!! LOVE Kai at his wall in his new shoes :) But Tate playing on the railroad tracks? What were you thinking !? Anyway, it looks like the PERFECT PLACE, for a PERFECT little family! XOXOXO from Momo

family…

Just a few random pics…from our hotel room in Del Mar….(except the one on the left of Kai and me…that was from my B-day dinner :)

Road trip…we did it!!

Got new car (TRUCK) will travel!  Been waiting to take a “road trip” for quite some time now.  Couldn’t have done it in the X5….not with 2 kids, a BOB stoller, 3 big duffle bags, and all the other odds and sods that get thrown in there!  We had a very comfy trip down to SanDiego and back…(with lot’s of great stops along the way!)  We were going North to Oregon, originally, but they the weather looked better going south.  I think we made the right move.  We travelled down the coast through Big Sur to Santa Barbarbra…then off to Del Mar/ La Jolla/ San Diego.  We went to Legoland, Disneyland and the San Diego wild life park….!!!!  We seriously need a vacation!  It was so much fun…and I’ve narrowed down my pictures to 400!  Stay tuned for more….

First stop for lunch at Moss Landing

Picture stop in Big Sur

The Inn of the Spanish Garden in Santa Barbara

Tate’s 3rd Birthday!!

Has it really been over a month that I’ve left this blog sitting here??  So much is happening, and I’m so behind on my posting : (

Tate turing 3 really threw me for a loop.  It seems like all of a sudden my little toddler is entering his “boyhood.”  The way he talks and makes jokes and even the way he plays and talks to his toys….I’m always taking a second look.  What did I miss?  Where did this kid come from?  What happened to my baby?  Where he used to be shy and a little reserved, he is now seeking the center of all attention and loves to entertain and make people laugh and notice him.  He’ll dance in the streets, sing a song wherever he is,and converse with total strangers just to elicit a smile.  It seems that he has made all these changes since Kai was born.  Although I hate loosing my little toddler, I’m in such awe and wonderment of who this boy is becoming.  He makes me proud everyday to be his mom.  (Yes. he calls me mom sometimes….and even “Helene” when he wants to get my attention at Target!)

A few picks from his b-day party…

4 month check up…

Kai is 4 months already!  We took him for his check up this morning…15 1/2 lb. 25 1/2 inches.  He’s in the 95% for weight and 75% for height.  Big boy!!  I’m finally understanding the reason behind his fussy behavior, and the constant scratching at his face.  Poor little Kai Bear has eczema.  I kind of knew that in the beginning since he had it on his face, but then it cleared up.  Dr. says that he will be susceptible to allergies, and to stay away from fish and nuts in my diet.  Now I know how Lee feels.  The thing is, I LOVE fish and nuts :(  I think he may be allergic to other things I’m eating, so I’m trying to be careful.  This explains all the rumblings in his stomach and his constant digestive struggles :(  I just feel so helpless sometimes when he seems to be in such discomfort.

Knowing this helps us understand at least why he’s been so fussy, although I wish there was a solution for my poor little boy :(

Here are a few more from last weeks trip to Monterey.  Poor little guy doesn’t look so happy :(

Just saw all those sad faces….things are looking up :) :) :) :)

March 22, 2010 - 11:12 pm Momo - I can't believe you're already 4 months old, Kai! And such a big and gorgeous boy! Great pics of the three of you, and I think Kai looks happy and contented in spite of his tummy problems :) He's fortunate to have Helene and Lee for his parents!XOXO

March 23, 2010 - 8:17 pm Rachel Clare - Oh dear friend, he is so beautiful. Maura's 4-mo. checkup isn't for another 3 weeks (??), but she has horrible eczema! Wonder if it's what I'm eating?? :( Love these shots of you guys.

A little getaway…

We decided to skip out of town last week for just 2 days, and with just Kai.  I’ve been feeling the need for us (Lee and I) to bond with our new son on our own.  Tate had a great time staying with Momo and Tata, and I wasn’t too worried that he would feel left out since he always loves to spend time there.  They had their own adventures!  It was a short trip, (the next one will be longer!) but it was a nice relaxing time on the water (the hotel was right OVER the water) and it was good bonding time.  Kai’s first vacation!  Here a re a few pic’s…more soon…

March 22, 2010 - 2:39 pm Horst - Kai is such a cutie! So nice seeing all of you yesterday!

March 22, 2010 - 9:45 pm TateandKai - Nice seeing you guys too! We are looking forward to Sunday!!

March 22, 2010 - 10:58 pm Momo - Such sweet pictures! So great to see the parents having such a wonderful time with Kai, while we enjoyed Big Brother :) I could keep looking at you all night long, Kai, you're so sweet! XOXOXO

March 23, 2010 - 8:22 pm Rachel Clare - Sigh. Helene, could you BE any more beautiful?
